About

Hi.

I’m Ron Batten, a third-generation traditional hand engraver based in Toronto, Ontario since 1979.

My engraving lineage traces back to my father, Harold K. Batten, in New York City, and my grandfather, Harold A. Batten, who had a studio in Boston. We’ve always adhered to the principles of true hand engraving, never resorting to power-assisted tools.

My background in music and fine arts infuses passion into my work. I can transform your ideas, sketches, or images into exquisite engravings on fine jewelry, rings, ornaments, plates, and keepsakes. I specialize in crafting custom crests, coats of arms, and distinctive monograms. Whether it’s inscribing the interior and exterior of bands, engraving presentation boxes, creating unique trophies and awards, or preserving heirloom treasures, I tailor each piece to your specifications. I also offer engraving services for flatware and holloware, matching older pieces or incorporating modern fonts.

No matter your corporate or personal engraving needs, I bring precision, mastery, and enduring beauty to every piece I create by hand.

"Traditional hand engraving is a dance between the artist and the metal, a symphony of skill and creativity."

Why Traditional Hand Engraving

Traditional hand engraving stands as an art form that transcends time and technology. Its enduring appeal lies in the unique blend of precision, artistry, and authenticity that only skilled artisans can offer. By eschewing power-assisted tools and embracing the meticulous touch of a craftsman’s hand, traditional hand engraving imparts a level of detail and personalization that cannot be replicated by machines. It preserves the essence of heritage, creating timeless pieces that bear the mark of true craftsmanship and a connection to the past, making it a choice that resonates with those who value the enduring beauty of tradition.
